SALT SYSTEM CLEANING & REPAIRS
A salt chlorine generator is low maintenance but not zero maintenance. When the cell scales up, the flow sensor fails, or the control board throws an error, our expert salt system repair services diagnose and restore your system so it keeps producing clean, consistent chlorine without you touching a chemical bag.
Our Services
Salt systems are not self-maintaining. The electrolytic cell that produces chlorine accumulates calcium scale over time especially in Southern California’s hard water. An unserviced cell loses output efficiency gradually, then fails. Regular cleaning extends cell life significantly and keeps chlorine production consistent.

SALT CHLORINE GENERATOR SERVICE & REPAIR
Salt water pools are increasingly popular for good reason: they produce chlorine automatically through electrolysis, eliminating the need to handle and store liquid or granular chlorine, and they typically deliver a softer, more comfortable swimming experience. But the system that makes this possible requires periodic professional attention, and our salt system repair services help keep it producing chlorine at the right level while catching component failures before they leave your pool under-sanitized.
At Pool Tech USA, we service and repair all major salt chlorine generator brands including Pentair IntelliChlor, Hayward AquaRite, Jandy TruClear, and CircuPool. We clean electrolytic cells, test and replace flow sensors and control boards, calibrate salt level readings, and diagnose any error codes your system is displaying giving you back the reliable, hands-off chlorination that salt systems are designed to provide.
The Three Filter Types We Service
Integrity First
The core of the system. Titanium plates coated with ruthenium oxide convert dissolved salt into chlorine gas. Calcium scale builds on the plates over time, reducing output and shortening cell life. We acid-clean the cell and inspect plates for wear.
Flow Sensor
Detects water movement through the cell and shuts the system down when flow is insufficient a safety feature that prevents the cell from running dry. A faulty sensor causes false shutdowns or allows the cell to run without water.
Control Board
Manages chlorine output level, reads salt concentration, monitors cell health, and displays error codes. Board failures can cause incorrect readings, no output, or a system that won't power on at all.
Salt Level & Chemistry
Salt systems require a specific salinity range typically 2,700 to 3,400 PPM to function correctly. We test actual salt concentration, compare against controller readings, and adjust as needed alongside a full water chemistry balance.
Common Salt System Issues We Fix
The most frequently reported salt system problem is low or no chlorine output despite the system appearing to run normally. This is almost always caused by a scaled electrolytic cell that has lost efficiency, an incorrect output percentage setting, or a salt level outside the operational range. Before assuming the cell has failed, our technicians test each variable actual salt concentration, cell voltage output, and flow through the cell to confirm which factor is limiting chlorine production.
Error codes displayed on the control panel are another common reason homeowners call us. Codes vary by brand but typically indicate low salt, low flow, high temperature, cell inspect, or a power issue. We carry brand-specific diagnostic references for all major manufacturers and can interpret and resolve error codes on the first visit in most cases. Some codes are resolved by correcting the water chemistry or clearing a flow restriction others indicate a component that needs replacement.
Cell replacement is eventually necessary for all salt systems most electrolytic cells have a lifespan of three to seven years depending on the water chemistry, usage level, and how consistently the cell has been cleaned. We supply and install replacement cells for all major brands and ensure the new cell is properly calibrated and commissioned before the visit is complete.
Pool Tech USA services residential and commercial salt systems throughout Brea, Yorba Linda, Fullerton, Placentia, Anaheim, and Corona. We recommend a professional cell cleaning every six to twelve months in Southern California’s hard water conditions, and every weekly service visit includes a salt system repair check to ensure your system stays in top condition.
